Sforza Gramsci is a sound collage project based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Its works aim to pay tribute to the Italian noise and industrial pioneers of the 1980s onwards, using their works as an inspirational springboard for experimentation.

'LIGHT HEAT POWER' is the first 'proper' release by Sforza Gramsci. Recorded directly to a C30 cassette in a home studio during the summer of 2019, it weaves improvised electronic beats between warped samples from ancient tapes, embryonic drones and a clutter of field recordings.

For SG, sound collage conveys the postmodern concepts of intertextuality and 'double-coding' in audio form; 'borrowing' from the past (often with some element of irony) is used to forge a new vision or idea. The interaction of these elements, in theory, forms a vast 'net' or 'labyrinth' (in Eco's work) which connects the singular work to a vast plurality of inter-related ideas and artefacts. This forms a perverse parallel with the way we are constantly bombarded with information (digital, verbal, oral, etc) in our current consumerist predicament. 'LIGHT HEAT POWER' is of course an unfortunate contribution to this stream of data.
