'liminal plaza 19.02.2020' is a collection of works inspired by the experience of consumer nostalgia: the manufactured ambience of large-scale shopping centres (with their water features, massage chairs etc); the distant new age muzak of airport departure lounges, leisure centres and cinema lobbies; the faux-rainforest aesthetics of family holiday resorts. this ep recreates and reconditions this formulation of artificial serenity (or, a process of emotional manipulation which imagines relaxation as a precondition for luxury consumption) by degrading field recordings, piano loops, synths and found sounds through an old 4-track tape machine and an array of analogue effects.
