scottish-italian experimental musician ollie turbitt presents “omnia sunt communia,” a suite of four long-form computer compositions developed between winter 2022 and autumn 2023. the four pieces are based on a handful of ambient demos recorded to cassette tape, before being re-sampled and re-processed innumerable times in ableton live and reaper. the "digital" side of the process was focused around honing in on specific resonant frequencies and stretching them as far as they could possibly go. the tracks were mixed at extremely low volume and mastered at the opposite end of the spectrum. the resulting recordings are sometimes expansive, sometimes minimal, sometimes meditative, sometimes abrasive.

the latin phrase “omnia sunt communia” expresses the religious and political belief that “all things are to be held in common.”
