about

Dead Hound Records was sent a tape from St Petersburg. When we opened it we were shocked at what we heard: it was a Soviet time capsule from 1959 full of music that sounds modern to this day.

This time capsule gives us insight into the daily life of the USSR. Throughout this journey, we unearth a world of muscular tigers, jacked Soviet officials, ketamine, and depression. The recording is dancey, intense at times, and it amounts to an altogether surreal experience as the listener gets caught somewhere between the past and the present.
