As delicate hammer-on/pull-off bass lulls us into {unshift} there’s a very palpable sense of nakedness and vulnerability about the recording. With each movement across the fretboard comes a new gently ringing harmonic that lingers for a fleeting moment as the wandering composition progresses. In this track, ‘Numb’, we are gifted a barebones distillation of what {unshift} is, with soaring saxophone dancing in parity with the bass as the track grows into a quite magical ambient jam. While ‘Dust’ sees the pre-established sound flourish in new directions as electronics take the reins, ‘Disintegrations B’ is a behemoth track, one that traverses an astounding array of sonic plains.

The creators of this stunning project, Sonia Killman and Aidan Lochrin, are an experimental duo delving into all sorts of musical nooks and crannies. Their prior EP Test_System.exe sets solid groundworks for the wonderful sounds that come together as {unshift}.
