"Deterioration" expands & extends State Machines' unique post-industrial sound by incorporating a more drone-oriented approach than found on previous releases. The usual hallmarks of Claire Schroeder's composition remain, however: mangled guitars & radios intertwine to present sonic evocations of desolate apocalyptic soundscapes (Hunt the Hunters) and unapologetic ancom ideology (ACAB). As always, State Machines affirms itself as an experimental project transfixed with the task of audibly representing the very real prospect of a dystopian near-future.
