"Paul* Hermansen (born 1999) is a composer/improviser, and producer based in Unna, Germany. Over the years, Paul* has lent their talented hand to jazz, free improvisation, hip-hop, electronica, noise and beyond. "Hermansen Vs Gott" is a mind-bending suite of off-the-wall sound collages in which the artist grapples with personal faith, organised religion and... schlager pop. HvG sees Paul* warp the music of schlager legend Karel Gott into something completely unrecognisable (and utterly demented): haunting drones, shortwave radio broadcasts and field recordings merge to form a bewildering - yet endlessly intriguing - aural experience. This mix of production wizardry, theological gravitas and unbridled experimentalism is what makes Paul* one of the most intriguing artists I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
