about

Not more than a couple of months beyond the release of their cracking debut EP ‘fuck it, we vibe’, Whole Foods Kids are back with a fascinating Twin Peaks-themed double EP ‘Sometimes My Arms Bend Back’.

Rob Bazaral and Evan Sievars record music with each other from across the pond, which manifests itself in visceral and gritty bass-led indie-rock. Lead single ‘…And Hot’ typifies the Whole Foods Kids sound; it’s melodic and propellant basslines tying tightly with rapid drums and setting the perfect scene for Bazaral’s emotive and often hilarious poetics.

Rather than create a project explicitly about David Lynch and Mark Frost’s legendary show, the pair elected to angle more for music that they felt suited the world of Twin Peaks. Used almost as a guiding light for the project, Laura Palmer, everyone’s favourite home-coming queen, is often channelled as Bazaral states ‘the universal figure for everyone who’s felt they’re leading a double life and has a hard time keeping it together’.

For fans of acts as varied as Ariel Pink, The Clash, The Modern Lovers and CAN, this double EP’s transatlantic creation results in a truly compelling and enjoyable listen.
